What are the differences between the Evvy Vaginal Health Test and other testing methods?

Updated today

Evvy’s Vaginal Health Test is the only CLIA- and CLEP-certified test that uses shotgun metagenomic sequencing—an advanced method that sequences all bacterial and fungal DNA present in a sample. This allows us to detect and quantify over 700 bacteria and fungi from a single vaginal swab.

By comparison, many other testing methods are limited in scope.

  • PCR tests can only detect a small, predefined set of microbes.

  • 16S sequencing analyzes just part of the bacterial genome and extrapolates that information, which can miss important species and all fungal organisms.
